Usually I don't like promoting clone-games, but there are always exceptions. "Black Mamba Snake" is essentially a "Snake" clone. It's been entered into Yoyogames' 5th competition: Portable Device Games, which as you probably know is where the "Snake" series began.

Unfortunately there are only two main differences between this game and the original. It looks and sounds different, and rather than the retro four directional movement, you have been equipped with a more flexible, smoother way of moving. You have pretty much 360 degree rotation, which fixes to one of the main four when one of the keys is held.
Apart from that, this game is pretty much the exact same, you have a choice of nine speeds at which your snake will move.

"Black Mamba Snake's" strongest point, is graphics. It looks quite good to the eye, and smooth cornering of your snake makes nice designs when your snake gets very large. The extra background detail of leaves which can sometimes hide the little mouse was a nice touch.

As well as good graphics, the game is actually quite addictive. Despite the lack of different modes, or variety in the game, I still found myself wanting to play it again.
There was one thing though that really irritated me, the lack of a highscores table. After a couple plays, I didn't know if I had gotten better or worse. When I first played it, I was hoping there was an online highscores table, but to my dismay, there wasn't even a local one.

Since the game is entered into the 5th YYG competition, which has different restrictions, maybe Chulien will add some highscores later when the competition is over. That along with other modes such as mazes or multiplayer could add to the life of the game.

Overall a fun game, loads fast and ends fast. Perfect for a small game to kill time, as for winning the 5th YYG competition, it'll need a lot more work to reach that standard.
