I am am proud to announce the project I have been working on behind the scenes for a while now. Thanks to PHPBB, a free open source bulletin board/forum, I have been able to add a forum for the site. The main difference between this forum and the old one is it's location. The old Invision forum, which is not open source was located on their servers. The new PHPBB forum is located on grabeorama.com.Also with this open source forum, I can edit each page as I wish. I can now make the website communicate with the forum, which was previously impossible.
I found it really annoying that people needed two accounts for the site, one for grabeorama.com and one for the forum. Now you only need one account to be able to post on both the forum and the site.
The forum is still under construction, i.e. it only has two forums, but I plan on making it roughly as large and diverse as the last.
The only down-side to the new login system is that current members will have to re-register. Just click the register button at the top right of the screen and enter your old details.
Also with the new system, now that I can sync data between forum and site, I will try and make a handy stats page for each user showing their recent forum posts and blog comments, along with their reviews (which I will hopefully be adding soon too).
Sorry for the inconvenience caused by the re-register process, but at the end of the day it should hopefully be a one-time change. I hope you like the changes, please post any feedback/suggestions here.
Cheers
