Gamemaker Alternative

Posted by on 19 Jan 2010

I recently downloaded a game creation program called Construct. I'm not too sure on the specifics of the program yet, but it seems to use the Python programming language, which unfortunately is totally new to me!
Construct is like Gamemaker though, and creates games using a GUI. Unfortunately after about a week I still can't make a ball move in a random direction. I think it's time for me to realize Construct isn't Gamemaker! It seems to be very powerful, but the lack of offline documentation, or even online documentation frustrates the average N00b!

The way you're meant to learn how to use Construct is by looking through the included examples, which is all very fine until you want to do something that isn't done in the examples.
So far I prefer Gamemaker, but I think an experienced Construct user can do much more with their game. I'm still experimenting with it though, but when I do finish (if ever) a game, I'll post it on the blog for feedback!
If you have heard of or used Construct or another Gamemaker alternative, please do tell!
