Gamemaker 8

Posted by on 22 Dec 2009

Gamemaker 8 has finally been released on Yoyogames. The new program looks pretty much the same as 7, but with totally re-scripted code editor and image editor. It is currently being sold for 25$ but Yoyogames are offering people who purchased GM 7 in 2009 a free upgrade key. They decided to continue using Softwrap for the upgrades despite a few complaints about problems with them, but it was either Softwrap and Gamemaker 8 now, or someone else and Gamemaker 8 in a few months...so naturally we want it now!

The new program is only out today so there hasn't been much feedback, but from beta testing people seem to like te improvements!

Sims 3 Future Architects

Posted by on 14 Dec 2009

If you are a fan of the Sims franchise, you've probably bought the new Sims 3 game. Now there aren't many "good" sites for downloading objects and lots for the game, but The Sims Resource is an absolute gem when it comes to free Sims downloads.

The website offers a huge number of free objects, clothing, lots, make-up, accessories and pre-made sims, along with the top-of the range quality items which require a gold membership for.
The creators on the site vary in skill but some of the houses made on the site are stunning!

So many buildings would be fit for reality. Nearly every day a new house is uploaded where I think to myself "If I ever get rich, I wanna live in that!". Even if you don't own the game I'd recommend looking through some of the different lots.

New Gamemaker Logo

Posted by on 9 Dec 2009

At last the final Gamemaker logo has been chosen! After all the arguments that the first one caused, it has been re-jigged and the giant smiley face has been taken away and been replaced with a cog and a "G" with Pacman filling.

The majority of responses to the new logo are much more positive than the previous, yet people are still complaining about the tiny inconstancies with the image. 2Dcube, famous game-maker is annoyed that the cog isn't exactly proportional and others are still disappointed with the design of the "K".

For me the image is much better than the last, and let's face it, easier on the eyes than the last. But still the logo doesn't make all that much of a difference to a game creation program at the end of the day...What do you think of the new logo!?

The Geese Are Getting Fat

Posted by on 8 Dec 2009

Well it's official Christmas is on it's way, the trees are being put up, the lights are being detangled, parents rustle up a smile for what their child calls "decorating" the tree and relatives scamper for shop shop trying to figure what the hell their child meant by "a second nunchuck"!

It's that time of year when children make Christmas lists long enough to sleep in! It's also the time of year when people's inner child explodes out of them, when you ask your grandad what he wants for Christmas and he replies "an X-box" followed by "wiv 160 Gigs"!

So what's on your Christmas list? An Xbox? A ps3? A Wii maybe? Let us know!
